Starting Hit Points

At character creation you add your full Constitution score to the maximum number on your hit die. This will give your starting hit points. Every level thereafter you gain hitpoints in the normal manner: roll your hit die and add your Constitution modifier.

Example:
Tasslehoff Burrfoot the Halfling Rogue is creating his character. His Constitution score is 14, and he gets a d8 hit die for being a Rogue. Tasslehoff’s starting hitpoints will be 22. Upon reaching level 2 he rolls a d8 (let’s say he rolls a 6) and then adds his Con modifier (+2). Tasslehoff gains 8 HP, putting his new total at 30.
